Bayside Responds to Haiti Crisis

As I write this, I am getting updates from Haiti. Power is out, cell phones are down, so it will be days before we know the full scope of the catastrophe, but already we know that thousands of people died in a massive earthquake overnight, many more were injured and hundreds of thousands could be homeless.
I got a call just a few hours ago from World Vision asking if we would partner with them to provide emergency life saving relief – including food, clean water, blankets, and tents – to those areas worst hit by the disaster. I immediately huddled with some of our church leaders, and we want to be one of the first churches to respond. We believe God is directing us to give 20% of our own recent appeal for Radical Generosity to Haiti.
So, 20% of all gifts designated on Radical Generosity cards and envelopes, or given online marked ONE TIME GIFT to Tithes, will be passed on as quickly as possible to World Vision to help the men, women and children of Haiti. World Vision has been working in Haiti for 30 years and has 370 staff already in the country responding to the crisis.
As I requested in my e-mail to you yesterday, please prayerfully consider what you can give towards our church financial needs, but know that a portion of what you give will go to help the most devastated and desperate people on the planet right now. And would you please join me in praying for the people of Haiti.

Serving together,

I’m confused. Your homepage says that 20% of Radical Generosity donations will go to Haiti relief but this post says only 10% will go to Haiti relief. …so which one is it?
Thanks for the comment Nathan, it is now 20%. It just took us a few hours to get all the graphics changed once the percentage was increased.
I went to give to radical generosity but the only fund available was tithe.
I tithe at another church so I wanted this money recorded correctly and the 20% to go to Haiti. If/when this is fixed please let me know and I’ll give then. If not I’ll use the envelope I took home. You all are great.
Thanks
God Bless
The “Tithes” fund is the correct fund with “one time gift selected”. If you choose “tithes” and “one time gift” it will be counted as Radical Generosity and Haiti Relief.
When and where can we begin bringing the shoes for Haiti?
Gayle,
Thanks so much for helping us provide shoes for Haiti! Stop by the Fill the Trucks table to drop off your shoes during any of our weekend services. We are partnering with Sport Chalet in Roseville on this project, so you are also able to drop them off there if it’s more convenient for you.
is bayside collaborating with world vision to send any medical personnel? i participated with bayside’s first family missions trip to Agua Vida and have since received my nursing degree. i am ready to go and can self fund, i am just looking for an organisation to go with.
Alanna,
We’re so happy to hear that you’ve served in the past and are anxious to return! Bayside isn’t currently sending teams. As conversations continue, that may change in the weeks and months to come. Check the Global Outreach page for updates. You can access that here: http://www.baysideonline.com/global-outreach
