An Amazing Update on Shoes for Haiti
Last weekend alone, we gathered 9,540 pairs of shoes for the recent victims of the earthquake in Haiti! That gives us a current total of 11,574 pairs of shoes in just two weekends. Wow! Thank you for your generosity in donations and for those who volunteered to assist with the sorting. It’s not too late; you can still be a part of the Haiti Shoe Project.
Please continue to clean our your closets and bring your shoes to one of these locations:
- Bayside Church weekend services at the Fill the Trucks drop-off by January 31.
- Sport Chalet 10349 Fairway Drive Roseville, CA 95678 by January 31.
We will continue to collect shoes at our weekend services through Sunday, January 31.

Can these be any kind of shoes? Thongs, slippers, tennis shoes, dress shoes?
Yep! We’re accepting ALL KINDS of shoes. Thanks for asking the clarifying questions and for your willingness to help.
Is it at all possible if a group of friends and family are hoping to gather tons of shoes (perhaps a few hundred) and drop them off at church. Or is it simply for small donations on an individual basis?
Ally,
we would gladly accept a large donation from a group of your friends and family! That’s amazing! Thanks for your willingness to help.
Hi, I am a part of Bay Marin Church in Marin County. We are looking at different ways that we can help with the Haiti effort. Your shoe effort is so different and new. We were thinking that we could help you with a local shoe drive targeted to our members. – what do you think?
Ces.
Ces,
I chatted with Shaun, who is running the shoe project, and he informed me that all the Sport Chalets in Northern California are doing this shoe drive. Your church could collect shoes and deliver them directly to your closest Sport Chalet.
If you were interested in partnering with us in particular, respond to this comment and I’ll have Shaun get in touch with you. Thanks for your desire to make a difference!
Great! Thanks for getting back to me so soon, I really appreciate it. We’re excited to start collecting as many shoes as our cars can hold!
My friend and her neighbors crocheted some booties and would like them to go to Haiti.
Can you use them?
Dinah,
Feel free to stop by the Fill the Trucks table at the church during our weekend services and ask if we’re able to take the booties along with the shoes. I’m not sure of the arrangements. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
When is the deadline to bring in the shoes?
Is there a drop-off location during the week, or after church service hours?
Ruth,
We’ll be collecting shoes through next Sunday (January 31). You can drop them off at the church during (or in between) our weekend services, or you can take them directly Sport Chalet in Roseville. Thanks for all the help!
I have alot of people who are still interested in dropping off shoes? Did Bayside extend their efforts or do you know anywhere that might still be collecting them.
Kris,
I believe the Sport Chalet had a cut-off date for delivery and that’s why we were only able to collect shoes through January 31st. I’m not currently aware of anyone else collecting shoes, but the Sport Chalet might be able to point you in the right direction. Sorry I couldn’t be more help. Thanks for your desire to continue giving and supporting those in need in Haiti!
Emily,
This is Brittany Hince from the Granite Bay Gazette. The Gazette is doing an article on Bayside’s contribution to Haiti and I was wondering if I could use this photo as a courtesy photo.
